Introduction
OutRun or Out Run is a video game from 1986. Originally designed by Yu Suzuki and Sega-AM2. It was very popular as a arcade game, but also spawned numerous versions for home computers. The game had, at the time, exceptional graphics, sound and music (ie. "Splash Wave" and "Magical Sound Shower").
You control a guy in a car (Ferrari Testarossa), with his girlfriend beside him. As you race through different stages against a countdown timer. As you reach a new stage the amount of seconds remaining on the timer is increased. The goal is then, to reach the end of the game without running out of time.
On the roads you encounter various noteable cars including Volkswagen Beetle, Chevrolet Corvette, Porsche 911, BMW 325i Cabriolet E30 as well as a generic truck.
Sequels
The game spawned many sequals, including: Turbo Out Run, OutRunners, OutRun 2, OutRun 2 SP, OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast and Outrun Online Arcade.
What you can do here
On this website you can view play OutRun directly in your browser. We host a Commodore 64 simulator running OutRun for Commodore 64.
You can also view various pictures taken of one of the four distinct arcade versions of OutRun.
